Directions
1Preheat oven to 400°F.
2In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and garlic powder. Whisk to combine thoroughly. Add chunks of butter – using a pastry cutter or two knives, cut butter into flour until it is coarse, pea-sized. Add grated cheese and stir in.
3Add oil to the milk then add mixture to the dry ingredients and stir just until the dough is moistened. The dough shouldn't be sticky, just moist enough to hold together – you may need to ad a bit more milk if your dough is dry.
4Drop approximately ¼ cup portions of the dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet using an ice cream scoop or large spoon.
5Bake for 15-17 minutes. While biscuits are baking, melt 3 tbsp butter then stir in garlic powder and parsley.
6When biscuits come out of the oven, use a brush to spread the garlic butter over the tops of all the biscuits. Use up all the butter.
7Serve warm – makes 1 dozen biscuits.
*An alternative to 'cutting in' cold butter, use frozen butter and grate into the dry ingredients using a box grater.
** Gluten Free Alternative: 2 cups Bob's Red Mill Biscuit Mix or replace first 3 ingredients with 2 cups gluten free flour blend, 1 tbsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt & ¼ tsp baking soda.
